The Kent Chamber of Commerce announces that the 2009 Kent Sidewalk Festival will be held Thursday through Sunday, August 6 to 9 from 10 – 5 daily. Each year this event grows and changes with new activities and participants. In addition to an end of the season sale with many merchants offering reduced prices, special deals and demonstrations, there will be food, music and more.
This year visitors will enjoy fabulous cuisine from many of Kent’s restaurants as well as special summer drinks, wine tastings and healthy fruit smoothies. There will also be a pig roast on the Kent Green on Saturday.
Live music from the porch of Richard Lindsey, Bookseller’s building will provide a feast for your ears with performers to include Bruce Wheeler, Scarecrow and Joint Chiefs among others.
The 2009 Sidewalk Festival will also feature fire truck rides, Saturday night movies, antique machinery and car displays, art exhibits and a wellness fair. The Kent Art Association, Richard Lindsey, Bookseller, The Kent Memorial Library and Union Savings Bank will serve as information points and have schedules and walking maps.
