This Valentine’s Day enjoy chocolate and help provide educational opportunities for local college students. The Kent Center School Scholarship Fund’s 15th Annual Chocolate Fest is Feb. 10, 2010 from 3:30 to 6 p.m. in the Kent Center School cafeteria, 9 Judd Avenue. Snow date is Feb. 11.
Proceeds from the 15th annual fund-raising event benefit the scholarship fund, which has awarded over $800,000 to graduates of Kent Center School since 1961 to assist with the costs of their higher education.
Tickets for the Chocolate Fest are $5. Purchasers will receive a plate, which they then can fill with a sampling of homemade goodies prepared by local bakers. Ticket holders also have the option to purchase a pre-made plate. Local merchants and craft vendors will sell seasonal gifts at the fest, as well.
The steering committee is looking for volunteers to assist in a variety of ways. Bakers are needed to create a variety of chocolate confections. The committee reminds bakers that a no-nuts policy is in effect due to student nut allergies. Baked goods can be delivered to Kent Center School Feb. 10 between 8 a.m. at 2 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at the door the day of the event, as well as from local businesses.
