The Aquarion Water Company, which serves Kent, is seeking a 16.1% rate increase from the Connecticut Department of Public Utility Control.  They list the necessity to recoup infrastructure costs as the main reason for the request.  They expect second and third year increases of 2-3% as well.

Required Dialing of Area Codes

Please note that an important change in your telephone service will take place on November 14, 2009 when all numbers must be dialed with an area code.  Yes, you read that correctly, all numbers.  So in Kent the number for Stoneforge Chronicles will go from 927-8000 to 860-927-8000.  This change actually started on May 16, 2009, so you can dial all calls with area code now.  Your telephone number will not change, just the dialing procedure.  Of course this is poor software design by the telephone companies, but it happened back in 1995 and is just catching up with us now.  We need to live with it…

Antique Machinery Museum Celebrates 25 Years

The Connecticut Antique Machinery Association Inc., will hold its 25th anniversary Fall Festival to be held rain or shine, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, September 25, 26, 27, 2009 from 10 am to 4 pm each day. Founded in 1984 by a small group of enthusiasts, it now has over 800 members worldwide. CAMA’s volunteers have created one of New England’s most unique museums dedicated to the preservation, restoration, and operation of antique agricultural and industrial machinery.
