Kent’s Social Services Director, Jerrilynn Tiso, is still taking applications for the Energy Assistance Program. There are several levels of energy assistance and each has its own income guidelines. Easter Egg Hunt

The Easter Egg Hunt for Kent youngsters ages 10 and under is Saturday, March 27 at 10 a.m. at Kent Town Hall. The inclement weather date is April 3. The hunt, co-sponsored by the Kent Lions Club and Kent Park and Recreation, features two age groups, ages 5 and under and ages 6-10. Youngsters may bring their own bags or baskets, and bags will be provided. For more information, call 860-927-1003.

A New Town Attorney

Kent’s Public Restrooms

For many years, Kent did not have public restrooms.  Then, as the Jim Preston and Rock Hill Associates built the Village Barns,  they added two public rest rooms at their own expense.  Now the Town and the Chamber of Commerce will take over part of that expense.

The Board of Selectmen got serious about budget cuts yesterday, culminating a series of budget workshops.  In particular, they addressed the growing number of assistants in each department, and moved to reduce that number.

Public Hearing: Resident State Trooper

The Town of Kent will hold a public hearing on the Resident State Trooper program on Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at 8:00 p.m. The hearing will be preceded by a short Town Meeting to approve the $200,000 STEAP Grant for the Community House renovation.
